8 Things to Do on a Sick Day

What to Do on a Sick Day

At the end of September, I was horribly sick from work for a few days. I found myself either keeping myself way too busy, or being way too bored. I realized that I couldn’t let myself just be sick. So, I found some in-between ways to spend a sick day–– so you can get the rest you need and not drive yourself crazy. These are my favorite ways to spend a sick day:

Postmates Your Food & Medicine

When you’re sick, the last thing you want to do is get out of bed to go get supplies. Use Postmates to deliver yourself some medicine, comfort food, or whatever needs you’ve got. Having the convenience of delivery for the little things is perfect, so you can fight the bigger things.

Binge that Show

Have your friends been telling you to watch a show that you just haven’t gotten around to? Filled up your watch queue but haven’t had the time to get through it? Binge that show. It’s time to put your sick day hours to good use with Hulu, Netflix or your streaming service of choice, so finally you understand what your coworkers mean when they talk about Black Mirror at lunch.

Read digital magazines

Stay in bed and don’t worry about having to grab the latest copy of a magazine. Read digital magazines instead on Issuu. Find it on your phone, tablet, or on web so you can sit back, relax, and just read.

Create an Amazon curated list

Create a curated selection on Amazon with their Interesting Finds section. Create lists of products and put your curatorial skills to the test. People put together product lists based on ideas, themes, jokes and more for others who might be seeking the perfect gift. Choose a theme, find your favorite products that fit, and publish your curated list. Show off your skills as a tastemaker to other shoppers.

Window Shop on Airbnb

If you can’t get out of bed, you can at least travel in your head. Window shop on Airbnb for your next getaway, whether it’s the distance of a short drive or far across the world. There are some amazing and unique spaces on Airbnb for you to explore without ever leaving your home.

Relax with Essential Oils

One of my favorite ways to relax is to diffuse essential oils. Lavender puts me right to sleep! Grab yourself a diffuser and enjoy essential oils to get your relaxation on. I even recently found some autumn scented essential oils that smell like pumpkin pie.

Update Your Pinterest

Start dreaming big and update your Pinterest account. Use Pinterest to plan out your next party, dream about your next vacation, or even just find some simple DIY projects to tackle. It’s my favorite way to spend a sick day or a sleepy weekend.

Rest!

The absolute most important one of all: rest. There is nothing more important to healing when you’re ill then getting actual rest. Let yourself nap, take a bath, and find time to chill. Ensure you’re drinking plenty of water, medicine, and a cozy space to get better.
